Terms of service
Last updated
These terms apply when you book a seat at a Keptable dinner. They are written to be read, not to be survived.
1. Who you are dealing with
Keptable is a registered Australian business operating in . "We" and "us" mean Keptable. "You" means the person booking a seat. Our full registered details are available on request at .
2. What we actually sell
We sell a seat at a dinner. For the fee, we group you with other people who booked the same night, choose and book a restaurant, and tell you where to go and when.
We do not sell you food. You order your own meal and pay the restaurant directly for it. The restaurant is an independent business and is not our agent. We are not responsible for the food, the service or the pricing at the venue, although we want to hear about it if any of them were poor.
3. Booking and payment
- A seat costs A$29, in Australian dollars.
- When you book, we place an authorisation hold on your card. We do not take the money at that point.
- We take the payment once four people have booked the same night, which is the point the dinner is confirmed. We then tell you the restaurant.
- If the night never reaches four people, the hold is released and you are not charged.
- Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Refunds, credits and cancellations are set out in full in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.
4. You must be 18 or over
Dinners are held in licensed venues and are for adults only. By booking you confirm you are at least 18 years old.
5. Turning up
Booking a seat is a commitment to five other people, not just to us. If you cannot come, cancel before the cut-off so the seat can be reused. Repeatedly not turning up may mean we stop seating you.
6. How you behave at a table
Keptable is not a dating service and must not be used as one. You agree not to:
- harass, intimidate, pressure or make unwelcome advances towards anyone at a table;
- photograph or record anyone at a table without their agreement;
- share another member's name, contact details or anything they said at a table, anywhere, without their agreement;
- use a dinner to sell, recruit, canvass, proselytise or promote anything;
- turn up intoxicated, or behave in a way that makes the evening unsafe or unpleasant for others.
We may remove you from a dinner, or from Keptable entirely, if you break any of these. Where conduct may be criminal, we will report it.
7. The private answer
After a dinner we ask you one question about each person at your table: whether you would sit with them again. Your answer is never shown to anyone, including the person it is about. We use it only to decide seating on later nights. Nobody is ever told they were chosen, and nobody is ever told they were not.
8. What we cannot promise
We choose the restaurant, group the table and tell you where to be. We cannot promise you will enjoy the evening, get on with the people, or make a friend. We do not vet, background-check or verify the identity of the other people at your table, and you should treat them exactly as you would any other strangers you met in a public place.
You attend at your own risk, and you are responsible for your own safety and your own way home.
9. Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows, our total liability to you in connection with any dinner is limited to re-supplying the service or refunding the fee you paid for that dinner. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the acts of a restaurant or of another member.
10. Changing these terms
We may update these terms. The version in force for your booking is the one published when you booked. Material changes will be emailed to anyone holding a booking.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Queensland, Australia, and the courts of Queensland have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
